N.W. Posthumus PhD Fund

Applications for the PhD Fund are no longer possible from 29 September 2021 onward.

COVID-19-measures have had quite an impact on the research trajectory of many PhD’s, causing practical and personal restrictions, eventually resulting in a delay. Therefore, the N.W. Posthumus Institute had created a PhD fund to provide a helping hand during this pandemic. Due to the developments regarding COVID-19, and as society is returning more and more to the pre-COVID situation, no more applications are possible after 28 September 2021.

Entitlement

All PhD’s registered at the N.W. Posthumus Institute could apply for a grant to be used for all kinds of initiatives aimed at reducing the study delay caused by COVID-19 measures. These may include (but are not limited to) requests for financial support to receive help from student assistants or external experts for specific parts of the PhD project, having archive material scanned, or a short stay at an archival institution to collect the necessary sources.

Conditions

An application was expected to include a motivation (maximum of 300 words) and a short budget proposal up to a maximum of 2,000 euro. All applications were assessed by a committee consisting of the Education Programme Director, the chair of the Education Committee, and a PhD-representative. Granted proposals should be completed before the end of 2021.
