Vacancy: Assistant managing editor ((R)MA student) Journal for the History of Knowledge – deadline 10 April 2026
The Journal for the History of Knowledge (JHoK) is looking for a (R)MA Student in Humanities as assistant managing editor (0.1 fte) to start on 1 June 2026 (or as close as possible to this date) for 6 months. The student should be registered as (R)MA student for 2026/2027(at least until the end of your contract, 6 months after the starting date). The position can be prolonged depending upon positive evaluation and continued registration as a student.
The assistant managing director is expected to be available for a total of 0.5 day per week, to take part in the monthly editorial team meeting remotely, or occasionally on site, and to perform tasks during weekdays while efficiently managing an own schedule.
The assistant managing editor will assist the editors-in chief in managing the review process of articles submitted to the Journal for the History of Knowledge. Tasks consist of receiving and acknowledging articles and special issue proposals, keeping track of the review and revision workflow and correspondence (including contacting reviewers, and sending reminders to reviewers and authors), anonymising submitted manuscripts and reviews, checking articles for compliance to JHoK’s style sheet, and, in general, managing all communication with authors, reviewers and advisory board members.
