Call for Writing Support Program 2026 (ESEH) – deadline 11 December 2025

ESEH NEXTGATe is launching the 6th round of the Writing Support Program for emerging scholars in Environmental History and the Environmental Humanities.

The European Society for Environmental History (ESEH) invites early career researchers to submit a proposal for a draft article or book chapter and to join a series of monthly workshops in which they receive hands-on feedback on their ongoing work from invited established scholars and peer early career researchers. The purposes of the group discussions are to advance the writing process, to boost productivity and to strengthen the community of environmental historians.

The monthly sessions will be chaired by Professor Andrea Gaynor (The University of Western Australia) and will run from late January to late June 2026. Draft papers will be pre-circulated at least a week in advance of each session and all participants are expected to provide feedback. Each session discusses two papers for 45 minutes per paper, 1.5 hours in total.

Those wanting to participate, should submit a proposal ultimately on 11 December 2025. Specifications about how to submit a proposal, are to be found in the full call (see button below).
