PhD student position on ‘Finance and Inequality’ (University of Bonn) – deadline 13 October 2024

The Department of Constitutional, Social and Economic History (VSWG) at the Institute of History of the University of Bonn is looking for a PhD student for the Centre for Advanced Studies ‘Finance and Inequality’ funded by the German Research Foundation from 1 January 2025.

Income and wealth inequality is a problem that has been preoccupying science, politics and society for a long time. Within the Centre for Advanced Studies Finance & Inequality, the PhD student will use concrete examples to investigate how and in what ways banks and financial markets have increased or mitigated economic inequality since the 19th century. In addition, it will be examined how banks and financial markets have changed in the face of varying income and wealth inequality. Candidates are asked to outline in their application at least one question they would like to investigate within the framework topic of the Centre for Advanced Studies.

Applications should be submitted, quoting the reference number 3.2-24-64 exclusively in a PDF file by e-mail to the VSWG ultimately 13 October 2024. For further information, you may contact Professor Carsten Burhop.
